Ranks

In my short time on this server, the rank system has challenged me to create things previously unimaginable to me. It pushed me to make grander, more complex builds, and enhanced my skills greatly. However, since I have reached Inventor, I have felt a lack of meaning, an absence of achievement. I am not one to build grandeur monuments (and if I do they are rather unimpressive) but it would be the greatest thing to be able to continue to use my redstone knowledge to continue building, improving, creating, and to be able to continue to rank up, to have a feeling of accomplishment for my efforts. I realize some players believe the current rank system to be too compicated already, but in my opinion a tier four (and maybe even five) would dare builders to create even more gargantuan works, and build things they thought ludicrous, too complex, or too difficult. Extra ranks would bring more experienced and better builders to our new server, and the creations churned out by challenging these minds would be absolutely fantastic. New, more challenging tiers, I believe, would be a great addition to the server.

This biggest problem with

This biggest problem with having higher ranks, specifically redstone, is that it has the potential to cause a great deal of lag on the server with really complex circuits.  I agree with your original idea, though, that it would be nice to have higher ranks for those that want to specialize in a certain area further instead of having to be "well-rounded" as that has been a problem point in the past.  But with this new server, who knows?  It may be able to take a harsher beating allowing for more complex redstone creations. Good input though.

Ranks

I very much agree with this; I feel that more ranks should be introduced for those who do not enjoy building nor redstone. I believe that there should be ranks that encourage exploration, monster hunting/slaying and underground constuctions. I love exploring and making underground mansion, yet I feel there is no rank to award me for these things.

Maybe ranks competely different to what we're used to would change things up, each with their own perks to be obtained when reaching the max level in. Nothing as complex as building massive structures, ranks such as 'Huntsman' and 'Explorer' would add new levels of individuality for those just starting the server.

Just a few thoughts.

An Alternate Mastery

What if, instead of tier 3 players being required to get the two other tier 3s, they were able to build something mindblowing and unfathomable for Master? This, of course, would be no easy task, it would have to be earned with every ounce of skill a player has. Here is a list of possible requirements for this build:

-An INSANE block requirement

-Multiple extremely impressive builds

-Ludicrously complex and impressive

-Approved by every staff member possible

-On the server for over 6 months

-In very good standing with all staff members

-Shown to be very helpful to the community

-All previous builds have gone above and beyond the requirements for that rank

-Has to be the best, or one of the best, builds for the specified rank path staff has ever seen

-Any other difficult requirement you can think of

Ranks

I agree with a lot of the ranks suggestions but I would imagine some of the ideas outside of building might be hard to monitor. I would love to see some type of Farmer Rank, Explorer Rank, Merchant Rank or some of the others mentioned but i think it would take a lot of time to implement correctly. The existing previledges I think match well with the existing ranks. New ranks might have to limit or increase the priveledges and we would have to figure out a way to make sure auto-farms and or the system is not beign "gamed" in any way. For everyone with rank ideas, maybe start typing up (word or excel) ranks with requirements and priveldge ideas and bounce them to Trey (if he is interested) as posting here might not leave you enough space? Exploration would probably be a hard one but maybe there are some plug-ins that monitor how much of the map you have explored/creatures killed/ and "public/open" homes/farm built for others to follow you? End of rambling.
