Friendly mob warping glitch

I can't be the only person this is happening to.

If I warp to a region post, and any of my dogs/cats/horses (including non-portable horses) are standing within a few blocks of me, they all tend to come with me.  No, I don't want my horse on top of some distant region post.  Sometimes they warp back, sometimes not.

On the other hand, I'm having trouble getting my dogs, say, to warp with me anywhere else.  Like home or something.

There probably isn't an easy fix for this and it's obviously no emergency.

Does this fix your problem? :P

The dogs/cats/horses/llamas warping thing is supposed to happen. Although it can be annoying, I am very glad that the server has this feature, because I use it a lot.

The fact that your animals are not warping back is a problem though. I've never had this problem before, even after accidentally warping my entire horse stable stock a couple times, the horses always warp back with me. (Both portable and non-portable horses warp)

Could it be that you are warping to a /home? I don't think that "pet mobs" warp to /homes. They only warp to region posts.

If this doesn't explain why your horses/dogs aren't warping back properly, could you post an example of a time that it didn't work? I might be able to troubleshoot your problem.

Hope this helped :)

/visit

Ok. Trey and I had quite the extended conversation about this exact feature once. He told me that its built into the plugin that controls /visit. It takes all of YOUR animals with you (within a radius around the player.) This is to help the player bring back their pets when they take dogs, cats, ect. on an adventure. Without this your dog that you took out on a walk to spawn would just sit there at spawn when you /visit your home region. I know this can become VERY VERY annoying as you dont always remember to walk away from your animals when you use /visit which results in animals getting transported to random region posts and getting left there. The plugin (From what I understand) works in an on/off capacity theres no good way of changing the radius of effect or making it only transport certain animals. So unfortunately its an all or nothing prospect. /home or /t tp or /warp should have no effect on animals being moved around the server. So if your using /home (Which I use frequently to get back to my house) to get directly to your house, your animals will get left behind.

Ok got it

I see, by the collections of pet animals around EVERY SINGLE OFTEN USED REGION POST that I'm not the only one having this problem, if it is a problem.   (The region post at /mall has a huge collection of abandoned dogs, cats and even a horse.)

Knowing how this works, I can manipulate it to get the result I want.  Usually I'm taking animals I have collected somewhere else to my home region, so this is easy enough.  Unlike regular minecraft, however, I cannot simply take them /home.

It would be useful if this information, which is new to me, were included somewhere in the instructions on the website.  Perhaps it is and I just missed it.

Interesting.

I'm starting to think that we need a FAQ section in the forum if we dont already have one. There has been many occasions where theres issues that staff know all about but long time players ask about frequently.

FAQ! FAQ!

The idea of having an FAQ is excellent!!  There are many details about the server, certainly including this one about domestic animal warping, which staff know all about but many of the rest of us do not, even people who've been around a long time, like me.  Let alone new players!

For example, the number of stranded pets sitting at /visit mall convinces me that there are either a lot of people who were trying to get rid of their animals, or a lot of folks who didn't understand this feature.  The treefarm at /visit horizon is already collecting what I expect to become a small zoo in due time.
